The injured worker adjustment program of American Therapeutic Corporation is designed to work with adults who have experienced an injury that affects their ability to work. The establishment of this program is a response to the following needs:
- The psychiatric treatment of injured workers who need more than traditional weekly outpatient, individual or group psychotherapy.
- The reduction of psychological barriers of the client and employer which
contribute to a prolonged absence from work.
- The immediate response to provide crisis intervention and treatment for employees and their families after traumatic physical and/or emotional injury.
American Therapeutic Corporation is uniquely designed and equipped to provide crisis management seven days a week, 24 hours a day to employers whose workers have suffered from physical injury, occupational disease or mental stress. The treatment team is lead by the psychiatrist, trained and experienced in workers compensation system, and the unique medical and psychiatric needs of this population. The team consists of a registered nurse, licensed mental health counselor, licensed clinical social worker, vocational counselor, and psychologist, who have been trained to understand the models of psychosocial adaptation to disability, coping strategies and behavioral interventions. The program is designed to rapidly move the client through the process of adjustment, overcome his or her physical and psychological limitations and emerge to become a productive worker in their former position or a new one after retraining if needed.
