American Therapeutic Corporation was founded by Marianella Valera NCC, LMHC, CAP, a mental health professional with vision and drive. She has well over fifteen years of experience in community-based behavioral health programs. Marianella Valera was determined to provide quality mental health services to all populations and communities in need. In the year 2000, she opened American Therapeutic Corporation, a Florida Corporation. She began in South Florida with the opening of a small office on West Flagler Street and a year later had several Mental Health Centers spanning from Palm Beach to Monroe counties.

American Therapeutic Corporation provides mental health services based on the unique needs of its clients. Its strength lies in the ability to assess individuals and make recommendations based on clinical criteria and medical necessity. These recommendations can be for in-patient hospitalization to a local hospital or State facility, or a less restrictive setting such as partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program or traditional outpatient psychotherapy services.

The agency prides itself in its unique and caring approach to customer service and education with an emphasis on individual treatment services and protocols. Many of our specialty programs such as: Family Court Services, Substance Abuse Program, Divorce Education Program, CBHA’S (Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments) and Supervised/Therapeutic Visitations are tailored to meet the requirements of the County Courts as well as the individual’s needs.

American Therapeutic Corporation’s staff works as an integrated multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of licensed psychiatrists, licensed psychologist, licensed mental health counselors and licensed social workers, exclusively drawn from a pool of the highest caliber professionals working on behalf of individuals who are in need.

Due to our resounding success in meeting the needs of the community, The Eleventh District Court, The Florida Department of Children and Families, The Department of Juvenile Justice, the Agency for Health Care Administration, and the many private insurance carriers that entrust their patients care to us, American Therapeutic Corporation continues its mission to expand and service those individuals who, for the lack of appropriate support, have fallen within the cracks of a system that has failed them.

American Therapeutic Corporation is committed to:
  • Become the leading provider of comprehensive behavioral health services to all populations residing in our community.
  • Provide significant benefits to those individuals in need of behavioral health care without exception.
  • Recognize the importance of all employees to the company’s success.
  • Provide outstanding ambulatory behavioral health services in specialized programs with emphasis on addressing the “whole” person.
  • Continuing quality assessment and improvement activities will enable us to meet the needs, as well as, the expectations of our patients, their families, and the health care community in which we provide services.
American Therapeutic Corporation’s philosophy of treatment for our programs is based on the belief that many individuals with acute psychological disorders may be effectively treated in a less restrictive environment than inpatient hospitalization. In addition, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs provide additional therapeutic intervention when symptoms exceed the utility of outpatient counseling alone. Patient in the partial hospitalization program may be transitioning out of inpatient treatment or beginning more intensive treatment than previous outpatient counseling.
